Singapore, 3 November 2011 – The third Clean Energy Expo
Asia (CEEA) ended today, after three days of high-level
dialogue and intensive networking. Held from 1 to 3 November
2011 at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition
Centre, the annual sustainable energy Trade Fair and
Conference successfully attracted 5,283 clean energy
industry players from 62 countries, more than double the
number of attendees in the inaugural edition in 2009.
As the platform of choice for industry players in the
technology, services, finance and government sectors in the
clean technology industry, Clean Energy Expo Asia hosted
close to 170 international exhibitors and over 130
distinguished speakers. Jointly organized by Koelnmesse and
the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS),
Clean Energy Expo Asia was held as part of the Singapore
International Energy Week.
Presenting the future of energy
According to the Asian Development Bank, Asia accounts for
US$100 billion of the total US$500 billion in the global
clean technology market. Asia’s slice of the clean energy
pie is expected to surge in the years ahead, as the region
increases its commitment to sustainable development, in a
bid to counter the effects of climate change, fossil fuel
depletion, rapid urbanization and increasing demand for
energy.
Clean Energy Expo Asia 2011 was the perfect platform for
clean energy players to weigh their options in clean energy
adoption. Attendees at the Clean Energy Expo Asia Trade Fair
were greeted with an array of products and technology
innovations from close to 170 companies. More than 26
countries were represented on the Trade Floor, with six
countries hosting national/regional pavillions.
Interesting innovations showcased included H2 Clean Energy’s
H2 Biomass, a carbon catalyzed liquid that allows a more
efficient and environmentally friendly burning process when
added to fossil fuels; and Third Wave Power’s mPowerpad, a
multi-functional solar device that captures and stores
energy from the sun to provide ready power wherever and
whenever needed.
“Clean Energy Expo Asia 2011 attracted high quality
visitors, presenting a timely and practical platform for
Third Wave Power to debut its very first innovation – the
mPowerpad. Throughout these busy few days, we have created
awareness for our product in the cleantech world, as well as
serious interest from potential business partners. Overall,
Clean Energy Expo Asia proved to be a great show with good
returns on investment for our company,” said VS Hariharan,
Co-Founder, Third Wave Power Pte Ltd.
Sustainable mobility was once again a highlight at Clean
Energy Expo Asia. Visitors were treated to displays of
vehicles that promised zero emissions, including model and
life-sized hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles by Horizon
Fuel Cell, as well as a range of sustainable transportation
options by EV World, such as the Aquawatt, the Green Fleet
Solutions, SeaLegs and YikeBike.
Engaging participants with relevant dialogue
The Clean Energy Expo Asia 2011 Conference also saw robust
discussions and dialogue among attendees and experts.
Reflecting the current economic uncertainty, the plenary,
The Road Ahead for Clean Projects & Investments, was
particularly well-attended. “With panelists from a mix of
professions, spanning design, academic, business, and
development, the discussions at the plenary made clear that
there is tremendous potential in the region to scale up
clean energy. The technologies, design tools, policy
frameworks, financing, and technical know-how to implement
clean energy solutions exist already, and while there may be
certain areas for improvement, for example in the policy and
regulatory support for some clean energy options, clean
energy is not something that will happen in the future. It
is happening now, and in a rapidly growing manner,” said
Peter du Pont, Vice President, Clean Energy- Asia, Nexant,
moderator of the session.
Another popular session was the Europe Business Forum –
Energy Efficiency: Business Opportunities and Market
Potential, which brought together industry leaders in the
energy efficiency market from Asia Pacific in a panel
discussion. Jane Lim, Divisional Director Energy Planning
and Development Division, Energy Market Authority, and Klaus
Landhaeusser, Regional Executive External Affairs, Robert
Bosch South East Asia, shared their views and experiences in
pursuing environmentally sustainable strategies for their
companies, while seizing new market opportunities.
The next Clean Energy Expo Asia will be held in September
2012 in Bangkok, Thailand. For more information on Clean
